Spirit Faith Grace Rage:
African Spiritual Culture in America

I am part of the African American world. I follow my intuition and instincts. I keep my ear to the ground. I read general circulation as well as community newspapers. I take note of all flyers and posted notices. I listen to “Black-Talk” radio to find out events that I might consider to be history-making. I get information in the mail, talk to friends and eavesdrop on the bus. As an independent photographer with working press credentials, I often assign myself to cover news events. Often, when photographing community events, I’m the only “media person” on the scene.
